Pour a cup, take a seat, and enjoy a delightful hour of “histor-tea!” Learn about Maggie’s distant aunt, Gladys Hagee Mathew, born premature on the outskirts of Denver, kept alive with a homemade incubator using parts from the bread warmer on the stove, her marriage to a descendant of the British gentry, and their adventures that took them to New York City and across Europe. Participants will sample some of Maggie’s tea, be the first to read recently discovered accounts from the late 1800s, and view items found in Gladys’ Upper West Side brownstone in Manhattan.
