Last fall, much of my time was spent caring for my mother post heart surgery, so many hobbies were put on hold. Music is a huge part of my life, and to be honest, I have truly missed singing. I haven’t even had time to sing at church. Over the last couple weeks, my son, Patrick, and I have been working on a few songs.
After eight years of Suzuki piano lessons and to his grandmother’s chagrin, Patrick decided to switch to acoustic and electric guitar. While his musical tastes tend to gravitate toward 80s hair bands and current artists like Three Days Grace, Sublime, and The Black Keys, we have found some common ground. So in an impromptu session in PJs, here is our rendition of “Blackbird” by the Beatles.
Patrick and I hope to share more videos and bring in some local musical talent to join us. Feel free to share any requests. Thanks for listening!
Beautiful!! Two of my favorite people, playing and singing one of my favorite songs. Nani/Mom
Love it! Thank you for sharing! I wish we had more opportunity to hear Patrick play. Please let me know when/where he performs. You both have amazing musical talent!
Thanks for sharing your talent! Enjoyed it:)
Always have loved music…very nice.
Thank you! I was hesitant when Patrick made the switch to guitar, but I am amazed at his growth, his dedication, and his flexibility. He decides to learn a new song, downloads the chords, and brings in a rough sample to his guitar teacher after a few days. We are working on a few sets together for the next round of concerts 🙂
